Chickens Make My Life Easier

Chickens Make My Life EasierWell, it’s been a few days since I’ve gotten my chickens and I think it’s a good point to sit down and see how they have affected our life here at home.  You see, what you may not realize is that my husband and I are trying to see if perhaps we can have a third child.  Something that has been a constant with both my earlier pregnancies is exhaustion – I have very little energy during the first trimester.  So naturally, while planning for that event, I come up with a wall because I am the sort of person who always has 3000 projects going on, and I definitely do tend to overload myself.

Home production of meat and sustainability

Lucky for me, in the next few months especially once we get moved into our home out of this temporary one, I will go back to baking all of our bread and if I am lucky I might find someone who has a cow down there who might  be interested in a trade of milk for cheese, so I can start doing more of that.  Our  new house has lots of fruit and I can put in a garden so by this time next year I think we’ll be doing well.  Which reminds me, I have also made the official food decision that by this time next year we will be on100% home or locally produced meat.  I am now renaming this post since I have something to say about this 🙂

Cheep Cheep!

Last weekend we had planned a trip up on Saturday to the property to go visit Grammie and Papa. As you remember, I had spent the afternoon the week before with my mom building a chicken tractor of sorts for her new chicks. She only got a few at the time and so suggested that I take the girls to the feed store that’s right down the street and get some more chicks, since they were supposed to get some sexed laying pullets in.
